60 of China's top junior Short Track elites gathered in Changchun (from ages 14 to 19), one of the largest winter sport capitols in the country, for an annual summer training camp. The training camp provides a selection pool for the final list of athletes granted membership in the Chinese Youth National team; eventually representing China in international competitions such as the Asian Open trophy and the World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships. After one month of preliminary training in Changchun, all 60 members of the camp will travel to Urumqi, a city notorious for it's high altitude, for specialised training. Afterwards, the team plans to send a select few skaters to participate in exchanges between provincial teams in Canada, and, compete as guests in Canadian national and provincial competitions.
ShorttrackWorld has been invited to provide english tutorial to the Chinese athletes to prepare them for their outward bound journeys to come. The English development camp will provide personalised instruction to each of the 60 members of the team, giving essential lessons on how to use their english knowledge in the context of overseas training exchanges, international competitions and social exchanges. The english development camp will take place throughout the 4 weeks of their preliminary training in Changchun.
