Ireland announces their Short Track National Team

For the first time in its history, the Ice Skating Association of Ireland (ISAI) will be represented by a speed skating national team at International Skating Union (ISU) events.

Following its successful application to the ISU for provisional speed skating membership, the ISAI Board of Directors has selected the following members for the Irish Short Track Speed Skating National Team for the 2016/2017 season:

Ryan McAnuff

Sean McAnuff

Ryan McAnuff (21) got his start in ice hockey before trying out speed skating at the age of 8. After competing in both sports for a number of years, he later chose to focus exclusively on speed skating. His favourite distance is the 500m.

Sean McAnuff (18) has had a similar trajectory to his older brother. However, he took up speed skating at the even younger age of 5. He lists Canadian Olympic gold medallist Clara Hughes as his idol.
